The Commonwealth of Australia Marriage Act 1961 requires certain documents to be completed prior to your wedding day being
a) Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM)
Supplied by me. The document needs to be completed; and lodged with your Celebrant, at least one month prior to your Wedding day. In order to complete the NIM, original or certified documents including Birth Certificates, Decree Absolute, and Death Certificates will need to be produced. For overseas residents, a foreign passport is acceptable.
b) A Declaration of Marriage must also be signed prior to your Marriage.
You also require two people over the age of 18 to witness your signatures to the Wedding Certificate and other legal Documents on your wedding day.
